They want to be truly surprised and have confidence that he has digested the hints given to him and understands what he should be looking for.<br /><br />That's how it happened with me. My wife who was then about to become my fiance gave simple instructions. She mentioned that the ring should have yellow gold in it and should be simple in design. Next she said that it should be smoothly finished with no sharp edges or prongs that would catch on clothing or hurt her little nieces and nephews when she picked them up.<br /><br />This was a tall order and so I started out with the center stone and figured that whatever unique engagement ring mounting that I would find that fit the criteria would have to be for a round brilliant diamond. With that out of the way I went about looking for a mounting that fit the parameters that she mentioned.<br /><br />I looked at some unique engagement ring styles that use a two prong setting as this would minimize the number of prongs and would yield a smooth feel to the top of the ring. I looked at a ring from Wall designs and kept looking at it. It was simple bu the only problem was that the stone sat fairly high in the setting. I had figured on a little over a carat for the center stone and using a model with that approximate size it was still to high. My wife is a small woman so it was paramount that the ring not stick up too much.<br /><br />I originally went for the bezel look that my friend Ana wore but she seemed reluctant to let me copy the ring. I liked the bezel set center stone with flush set side stones because the mouning was smooth . It was a unique bezel set engagement ring mounting, very smooth finish with nothing sticking out and the stone could be set low in the mounting for a very streamlined look and feel.<br /><br />I didn't want to "steal" her design because that's what she made me feel like I was doing. But that's OK. I figured I wanted to get a unique solitaire ring setting preferably in two tone. Ana led me to a designer by the name of Whitney Boin. I went for the simple Platinum and 18kt yellow "U" mounting for a center stone of 1.15 carats F color VS1 stone. It was a great combination and I felt it was at once more contemporary and more chic than my friend Ana's ring. Princess cut diamonds interlocked perfectly with others like lego pieces to form straight channels with multiple rows of diamonds as well as square and diamond shaped settings where 4 or 9 princess cut diamonds would be set as a perfect square.<br /><br />Brides to be as well as women looking for anniversary gifts found this the perfect opportunity to revamp their styling and get a new unique spin on the standard engagement ring.
